MENRO INITIATES TRAINING ON SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

The Office of the MENR is currently conducting a three-day hands-on training program focused on innovative recycling techniques within the Solid Waste Management framework from November 6 to 8, 2024.
On the first day, attendees from coastal and poblacion barangays engaged in the recycling of tarpaulin materials, transforming them into eco-friendly bags.
On November 7, participants will learn to repurpose paper waste into stylish accessories, fostering creativity in waste management.
In his address, Mayor Richard Garin underscored the urgency and necessity of this training, emphasizing its role in equipping the local government to improve garbage management throughout the town.

ROAD TO DISASTER RESILIENCE

On November 5, 2024, members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council convened for a one-day review of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LDRRM) Plan at the ISAT-U Hostel.
Guided by trainers from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the local government unit (LGU) is committed to bolstering Miagao’s disaster resilience.

ASEC PANLILIO VISITS MIAGAO, EVALUATES POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE FOR BULB ONION FARMERS

On November 4, 2024, Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary for High Value Crops, Atty. Joycel Panlilio, visited the bulb onion farmers of Miagao, engaging directly with the hardworking community.
The visit centered around the Cold Storage Facility located in Barangay Kirayan Tacas, aimed at assessing the farmers’ needs. During this visit, ASEC Panlilio sought to refine the Memorandum of Agreement concerning the use of the Cold Storage Facility, exploring the potential to expand its operations to accommodate other crops, thereby maximizing its utility and supporting the broader agricultural community.
