The team at the General Service Office, under the leadership of Ms. T. Arlene Nufuar and with the direction of Mayor Richard Garin, is actively curating a vibrant, colorful, and joyful Christmas experience for the people of Miagao.

For several days, staff members have been diligently installing festive lights and decorations at key municipal sites, especially in the plaza and the municipal hall, transforming these spaces into a holiday wonderland.

AMBULANT VENDORS UNDERGO TRAINING

On November 27, 2024, about sixty ambulant and market fish vendors participated in a comprehensive training on food safety, good hygiene practices, and sanitation, organized by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist in partnership with the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The workshop featured resource person Rose Tolledo Mueda, a researcher from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences’ Institute of Fish Processing Technology. She delivered an engaging session focused on essential food safety practices, emphasizing hygiene and sanitation.
Participants who emerged from the training were equipped with vital knowledge and skills for the proper handling of fish, thereby enhancing their ability to sell safe and fresh seafood in the market.
The activity forms part of the Gender and Development Program of the local government.

PYAP MIAGAO CELEBRATES NATIONAL CHILDREN’S WEEK

The Municipality of Miagao, through its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, hosted a significant one-day event as part of National Children’s Week on November 26, 2024.
Attended by members of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines—Miagao Chapter—the gathering featured a compelling talk by Dr. Phillip Nufuar on mental health awareness.
This event highlights the administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of children and youth, fostering an environment where their well-being is prioritized and supported.
 

MIAGAOWANONS RECEIVE ASSISTANCE

On November 25, 2024, a total of 782 Miagaowanons benefited from the support provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) ‘Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita’ (AKAP) program at the Regional Evacuation Center.
The distribution event was spearheaded by BM Joan Germinanda, who represented Congresswoman Doc Nanay Janette Garin, under the auspices of Responsableng Gobyerno.
In his address, Mayor Richard Garin conveyed his deep appreciation for Congresswoman Garin’s steadfast commitment to improving the lives of Miagaowanons. He underscored that this assistance, specifically designed for those facing hardships, marks a major lift toward fostering community empowerment and resilience.
