ANOTHER CTG MEMBER SURRENDERS

A member of the Communist Terrorist Group voluntarily surrendered to the 61st Infantry Hunter Battalion at Camp Monteclaro, Barangay Igtuba, Miagao on May 1, 2024. The individual, a 31-year-old male native of one of the barangays in Miagao, had joined the CTG sometime in 2020.
The surrenderee cited extreme hunger, hardship, and demoralization as the primary reasons for his decision to surrender from the organization. Upon surrendering, he received a warm welcome from Mayor Richard Garin, who provided financial assistance and government aid, along with offering education support.
Mayor Garin expressed that the surrender of the former CTG member represents a significant step towards eradicating insurgency within the town, emphasizing the importance of such actions in combating the prevailing challenges posed by insurgency within the region.

‘ANOTHER ASSISTANCE TO FARMERS’

To ease the burden brought about by drought due to the El Nino Phenomenon, approximately 250 Miagowanon rice and bulb onion farmers were given food packs in a distribution at the Regional Evacuation Center on May 10, 2024.
The distribution, spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director, Atty. Carmelo Nochete, was attended by Mayor Richard Garin.
In his message, Mayor Garin stated that the local government never ceases to search for ways and means to deliver programs and projects that are very much needed by its constituents.
He also expressed gratitude to the DSWD for its continuous support to Miagao.
