A technical-workshop for capacity-building on the basic conservation techniques for unreinforced stone masonry structures in consonance with the initiative of the Local Government Unit of Miagao to preserve the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church, one of the four Baroque Churches of the Philippines that possesses an Outstanding Universal Value a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A technical assistance was led by Mr. Karl P. Albais, Jeanne Therese L. Maling, and Ar. Marlu A. Calderon from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, along with Resource Persons/ Technical Experts Ar. Giancarlo B. Aycardo, Leonie-Lou D. Jizmundo, Mark Timothy B. Apura from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and Ar. Marvin M. Belgica.
The sessions included lectures, presentations, and sharing of case studies and experiences of the people of Miagao about disasters, whether natural or man-made, affecting the Miagao Church.
Through these series of talks facilitated by the LGU Miagao under the administration of Hon. Engr. Oscar “Richard” S. Garin, Jr. together with the team ministry and heads of agencies take on a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to ensure the success of operational principles and modalities for safeguarding our very own Miagao Church. This technical workshop was conducted last May 7-9, 2024.

he Municipal Health Office, under the leadership of Dr. Rhea Palacios, recently orchestrated a comprehensive health mission in Barangay La Consolacion, Miagao.
This initiative was prompted by the alarming surge in dengue cases within the community.
Dr. Palacios reported that the health mission encompassed a multitude of activities including medical consultations, preventive health advocacy campaigns, and the administration of rapid diagnostic tests for dengue to residents exhibiting relevant symptoms.
