MIAGAOWANON ACHIEVERS

The people of Miagao, through the municipal officials and employees, put their hands together and gave praises to six Miagaowanon achievers in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa and National PRISAA held in Davao City.  The Municipality awarded them Certificate of Recognition during the regular Monday Convocation Program and Flag Raising Ceremony on June 3, 2019.  They are:

JONELLA GALORPORT –National Champion for the Vocal Solo-Broadway Category during the National PRISAA in Davao City on April 24 to May 3, 2019;

JHED ANTHONY MORATA–Gold Medallist in Taekwondo, Light Heavy Weight (73 to 78kg) Category (Secondary Boys) during the  National PRISAA in Davao City on May 20 to 24, 2019;

ANGELYN ROSE NUALLA – Champion (Team Event) in Badminton during the National PRISAA in Davao City on May 18 to 24, 2019;

ANGELA JOY MARIE BERMEJO – Silver Medalist, Fin Weight Category (Secondary Girls) during the Palarong Pambansa in Davao City on April 24 to May 3, 2019 and Silver Medalist, Fin Weight Category (Secondary Girls) during theNational PRISAA in Davao City on May 20 to 24, 2019;

KATRINA PEBELICO MAMARIL – Silver Medalist, Taekwondo, Light Middle Weight Category (Secondary Girls) during the  National PRISAA in Davao City on May 20 to 24, 2019.

 

 

 

 

 

DILG project monitoring in Miagao

Engr. Franz Julia Tumale, Engr. Ruel Jon Dolar and Engr. Monien Peñaflor paid courtesy visit to Mayor Macario Napulan on Thursday, May 30th.  The Engineers were in Miagao for a two-day Project Development and Management Unit monitoring/validation of various locally funded projects under Bottom Up Budgeting (BUB) – Roads and Bridges 2016, Assistance to Disadvantage Municipalities (ADM) – Local Access Roads 2017, and Assistance to Municipalities (AM ) – Local Access Roads 2018.

 

SECTORAL DIALOGUE

 

Mayor Macario N. Napulan, MD listens attentively to the plight and concerns of the market vendors in particular about the issues and concerns on cleanliness and market operations.

Present during the dialogue were Licensing Head Stephen Intal and General Service Office Head Ms. T. Arlene Nufuar.  The vendors were informed of the LGU’s latest plans and initiatives to address the pressing concern in particular about health and sanitation and market operations.

For the meantime, Mayor Napulan picked Ms. Nufuar as in-charge of the cleanliness and orderliness of the area.  As such, photo shows their massive clean-up operations.

 

I am for HOPE goes organic

MIAGAO, Iloilo – The Municipal Health Office (MHO) in tandem with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMA) introduce organic farming to 73 I am for HOPE (Harmonized and Optimistic Program Enhancement) beneficiaries of the Municipality.

During their regular quarterly conference, the beneficiaries – who are teenage mothers, were taught of the benefits of organic fruits and vegetables to them and their family.  They were also given organic produce from the OMA which will eventually inspire them to engage in organic farming.

“We have introduced organic farming to them and this will form part of the key activities under the I am HOPE project.  Surely organic farming will help uplift their quality of life,” said Ms. Ma. Frea Monsale, Focal Person on Organic Farming.

I am for HOPE is a locally initiated program of the MHO for indigent teenage mothers of the Municipality.  It was conceptualized by Dr. Jessel Gellada with the aim to implement strategies on health and social concerns among teenage mothers.

“As Municipal Health Officer, I hope for these teenage mothers to have a good health-related quality of life. Hence, this Program, “ said Dr. Gellada.

Earlier on, they were trained by TESDA for massage, manicure and pedicure as part of livelihood project of the Program.  (ABMande)

INTERNATIONAL AIDS CANDLE LIGHT MEMORIAL

“No to fear, stigma and discrimination”.  This was the message conveyed by the HIV/AIDS candle light memorial held on Friday, May 31st at the Municipal Building Grounds, this Municipality.

The annual event, spearheaded by the Office of the Municipal Health Officer (MHO), hopes to increase awareness among Miagaowanons and target clients on the risk of HIV infection.  Prior the candle lighting, the participants paraded the poblacion to disseminate the message.  It was participated in by various organized LGBTQ groups, MHO staff, Barangay Health Workers,I am for HOPE members, and LGU officials and employees among others.

 

MUNICIPAL PEACE AND ORDER COUNCIL

The Miagao Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) convenes in a regular meeting today to discuss issues and concerns on peace and order and public safety.   The MPOC is one of the local special bodies required under RA 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991.

Chaired by the Municipal Mayor, the Council’s primary duties and functions include:

  1. Recommend measures to converge and orchestrate internal security operations of civil authorities and agencies, military and police;
  2. Recommend measures which will improve or enhance peace and order and public safety including that of anti-insurgency;
  3. Recommend sanctions against Barangay Officials who is giving material and political support to the communist rebel, criminal syndicates and organizations; and
  4. Monitor the provisions of livelihood and infrastructure development program and projects in the remote rural and indigenous areas adopted to isolate them from the communist rebels.

The Members include LGU Department Heads, Sector Representatives, members of the academe, and the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army among others. (ABMande)
