‘Coast guard’

Personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) San Joaquin Sub-Station headed by CG PO1 Richard Calero paid a courtesy call to Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin Jr earlier today.
In their visit, PO1 Calero requests for the LGU and PCGA to enter into a usufruct for the lot and building for their use. In response, Mayor Garin was positive with the request only when the building is fully furnished but for the meantime they can use the existing Coast Guard Building of the LGU in Barangay Baybay Norte.
Mayor Garin also requested for the PCGA to provide personnel in the PCGA Building who will lead the water search and rescue operations anytime whenever necessary.

‘Auction of RP not an option yet’

Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin, Jr gladly welcomes Dir. Maria Rhodora Gascon of the Bureau of Local Government Finance, Department of Finance Region VI as she paid courtesy visit earlier today.
Mayor Garin discusses with Dir. Gascon some measures that will help increase the local government’s income from local sources. With all the measures presented such as, RPT collection and auction, business permits, and collection of regulatory fees, auction of real properties is the least considered.
“I am not in favor of the auction on real properties. Given the pandemic, indi ta guid dapat pag gulpihon ang mga pumuluyo. Inform to anay sanda kang anda balayran. We have to exhaust all efforts to collect first,” said Mayor Garin.

‘Belt tightening’

Mayor “Oscar” Richard” S. Garin, Jr personally scrutinizes and reviews the funding proposals of each office during the marathon Budget Hearing in preparation for the Annual Budget 2023.
Mayor Garin attentively listens to the explanation and justification of the office’ funding requests as there is a need to be prudent in government expenditures. In 2023, the Internal Revenue Allotment is expected to drop by 14% given the decrease in National Tax Allotment.

‘Additional cell sites please’

Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin, Jr requested for an additional cell sites to Globe Telecom Area Sales Head Ms. Christine Genzola Terrenal as the latter paid courtesy visit to him earlier today.
Ms. Terrenal and her team were in Miagao to express their support to some future programs and activities of Miagao that might include livelihood assistance and outreach programs.
For his part, Mayor Garin asked Ms. Terrenal to expand the coverage of cellphone and internet connections by putting up additional cell sites in Miagao.

“Do not only repay kindness, pass it on. If you only repay kindness, the chain of love and kindness will stop, and will naturally die. If you pass it on, even when we are already dead and gone in this world, the chain of love and kindness will go on and on, will continue and continue,” Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin. Jr. said in his message as he personally handed over the check as livelihood assistance to 27 Miagaowanons.
The beneficiaries identified are parents/guardians of profiled child laborers from Barangays Tumagboc and Cagbang. They received the amount of P30,000.00 as livelihood assistance which form part of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program.
With the program, the government hopes to eradicate child labor in Miagao.

Provincial Population Officer Engr. Ramon C. Yee, MPG paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin, Jr and personally handed over the signed Memorandum of Agreement for the Establishment of the Multi Purpose Counseling situated at the 2nd Floor of the JRBB Hall.
They also presented the Miagao Population Profille 2019 to 2021. For 2022, Miagao has a total population of 72,267.
Engr. Yee was joined by PPO Ms. Eireen Digcaboon and Most Outstanding Ilonggo Ms. Rose Mary Galvan.
