Employees from the local government and academe and the members of the Sangguniang Kabataan took a break from their regular work to play for fun at the Laro ng Lahi.
The event aims to preserve the Filipino indigenous games such as sack race, Japanese ball, limbo rock, higot-higot and kadang-kadang.

In his message during the Salakayan Mass on February 6, 2023, Fr. Raul Dayaday thanked the Garin Family for their donation of P300,000.00 to the Parish of St. Thomas of Villanova.

This was one of the highlights of the speech of Mayor Richard Garin before thousands of Miagaowanons who attended the Opening Program of the Salakayan Festival on February 6, 2023.
โWe celebrate Salakayan Festival to commemorate, give thanks and to make this a challenge to all of us on how we live and value the sacrifices of our forefathers,โ he said.
Salakayan Festival is a weeklong celebration, on February 6 to 12, 2023, is a tribute to the townโs forefathers who successfully defended the land from the attacks of the Muslim pirates.
