On February 19, 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) launched its Walang Gutom Program in Miagao, benefiting 192 Miagaowanons.
Led by DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Katherine Joy M. Lamprea, the distribution of benefits marks the beginning of crucial support for the beneficiaries. Each participant will receive food credit assistance of P3,000 per month through an Electronic Benefit Transfer card, which can be used to purchase a designated list of food items from participating retail stores.
The Municipality of Miagao is honored to be part of the Walang Gutom Program offered by the DSWD Field Office VI. This initiative is designed to combat hunger and reduce poverty by addressing the needs of low-income families through food credit assistance.
In his remarks, Mayor Richard Garin expressed gratitude to the DSWD for implementing impactful programs for the residents of Miagao. He also emphasized the collaborative efforts of government officials that facilitated the implementation of such valuable initiatives.
