The Municipality of Miagao is privileged to be part of the Walang Gutom Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI.
On February 14, 2025, the DSWD personnel, headed by Fabelino V. Bendoy Jr. Project Development Officer III / Regional Program Coordinator, conducted the program orientation with the aim of jumpstarting the program as soon as possible.
WGP is an anti-hunger and poverty reduction program that aims to decrease the incidence of involuntary hunger experienced by low-income households through the provision of food credit assistance amounting to three thousand pesos (Php 3,000.00) per month, in the form of Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, which can be used to purchase a select list of food commodities from eligible partner retail stores.
In his message, Mayor Richard Garin thanked the DSWD for the programs that are of high impact to the Miagaowanons.
