On November 27, 2024, about sixty ambulant and market fish vendors participated in a comprehensive training on food safety, good hygiene practices, and sanitation, organized by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist in partnership with the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The workshop featured resource person Rose Tolledo Mueda, a researcher from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences’ Institute of Fish Processing Technology. She delivered an engaging session focused on essential food safety practices, emphasizing hygiene and sanitation.
Participants who emerged from the training were equipped with vital knowledge and skills for the proper handling of fish, thereby enhancing their ability to sell safe and fresh seafood in the market.
The activity forms part of the Gender and Development Program of the local government.
