On July 28, 2024, Mayor Richard led the opening of the Mayor Richard Garin SK Basketball Tournament at the SK Covered Court.
In his message, Mayor Garin stated that sports and youth development are among his primary agendas as he works on programs and projects that will develop the skills and passion for sports among every Miagaowanon youth.
