Miagao might just be the luckiest town as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Carmelo Nochete, introduces its latest initiative to the Miagaowanons.
This program aims to provide cash assistance to farmers and fisherfolk, concentrating on enhancing water sufficiency and bolstering food security within the community.
As explained by RD Nochete, the interventions geared towards water sufficiency involve the construction of small farm reservoirs, the repair of existing water harvesting facilities, diversification of water supply sources, and a variety of other supportive measures.
Meanwhile, in the realm of food security, the program’s interventions include communal vegetable gardening, community-based diversified integrated farming, vermicomposting, and numerous other supportive activities.
Beneficiaries will be engaged in these activities for a period of 20 days, and their efforts will be compensated at a rate equivalent to the regional minimum wage.
